Last Friday, on May 16th, we were Singing for Pleasure at St Werburgh’s – as part of the Chorlton Arts Festival – with our guests Melody Macs and Hard Times Kapalye both of whom were riveting and got tumultuous applause.
The place was packed! There’s nothing like facing a sea of of beaming faces to bring out the best from singers and musicians.
Liz taught the audience a four part “Oremi Je Ka Jo” and it worked a real treat – the sequence clapping rippled across the audience like a Mexican wave.
Lucky we’d prepared an encore because, right on cue, our plants demanded one, and we swung into “Shona Malanga” for all we were worth.
All in all, an exhilarating gig – and thanks to everyone who made cakes for sale at the interval.
