Manchester Community Choir is organising a Corsican Music Workshop.
In this workshop we will learn a selection of three-part songs from the Mediterranean island ofCorsica, a land fêted for its unique polyphonic style, richly ornamented melodies and thrilling harmonies.
The workshop will be run by Caroline Bithell, a lecturer in ethnomusicology at the University of Manchester, Caroline has been studying the musical life of Corsica for 20 years. She is also a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners’ Network with many years’ experience as a workshop leader. All songs will be taught by ear and will be spiced with images and stories from Caroline’s travels.
Bring your own food to share at the workshop.
Pre-booking essential. Tickets will be offered to Manchester Community Choir members up to 31st March and, if there are any left, they will be offered to singers in other choirs.
